Bob -- Still, overall it's pretty good. The cards in the 4th and 5th Series historically have had print snow problems. I have no idea if that was factor here, but sometimes sharp cards get bumped down a grade because of that.

Wow, your expectations must be very high. Looks like a solid group to me.

    75 cards (all from 1969): 21 9s, 48 8s, 5 7s, 1 6.
I think you're being a bit harsh on the grading.

Is this the last group you have pending? Did you have a submission with all the star cards?

If you would of seen the set you would understand my disappointment. These were snow free Dan. I was shocked. AS for grades, I expected 1 or 2 10's, with 40+ 9's and the rest 8's. I just feel that if you send cards all from the same year the graders tend to grade card against card instead of card against grade deserved. John, the major stars graded out as follows, Brock-7, Jax 8, Palmer, Ryan,B.Robby,Stargell,B.Martin PSA 9. Carlton,F.Robby, and most of the rest 8. The Aaron,Mays,Yaz 7. Most of the Allstars graded 7 or 8.

I"ll take them Bob, not trying to make light of your disappointment, just seems that's how most submissions end up with the expected grades being knocked down because of quirks. I just got these results
back and it looks like S^&* compared to yours but actually I got just about what I expected. The Mantle/Boyer was a grade higher while the Carew & HR leaders were a grade lower. The '69 Mantle was an experiment.

One way to look at it from a positive perspective...

Most of us would jump at the opportunity to pick up a 100% graded 1969 set with a GPA > 8 that included all the white letters for under $20k. Even with the grading fees factored in, you're still in at less than $20k. I agree that PSA seems to be pretty tough on 1969s. I've bought many 1969s from vending runs and the 9s are always few and far between. I'm also leary of sending in too many of the same year on one submission or too many high grade cards grouped together.

    John,
The whole set did not grade out. There are 250 throw aways. Shannon,Satriano and quite a few of the tough ones were shat. So really I'm into 60%of the set at $17000. Its probrably a wash at this point. Most of the variations were shat too. I got 2 more 8's out of the rest of the whites. The remaining ones are 3's or 4's.
