Bill - You created the Collectors Mint Set (Complete Set) and are #1 in my book. I am happy to close the year underneath your set. PCGS should give you an award for creating such a cool registry set image

Great Job.... Bill. Your set is #1 with your true fellow registry pals. Mitch, your comments demonstrate true character. I can tell you live by the golden rule. It is to bad many of our fellow members can not understand the meaning of your words. I hope all the snipers have a good feeling about themselves. By the way, I was not sniped. I don’t have a set that qualifies, but its a shame the recognition has been robbed from many that “I” feel deserve it. Like Bill, E. Lyle, and Hutton, just to name a few. It is truly a shame and a dishonor to our community that we have created. Bill... you the man! #1...

My true congratulations for Bill is not intended to be negative for Jim from our boards who beat him out fair and square. Jim did not hide anything - Jim actively and openly sought his final coin this week to finish the set and win. I personally chose to not enter my last coin, because I was thrilled to see Bill win. Again, as far as I am concerned, Bill did win in the most important contest of all - the Registry of public opinion image

Mitch, I agree with your point. Bill added 2 out of 20. That’s respectful, I think. I have seen one case 20 coins out of 22. That’s well... you know! Jim, I do agree with Mitch, and apologize if my comments was seen negative towards you. Great Job Jim... Bill... you still the man!

"Mitch, I agree with your point. Bill added 2 out of 20."

I think you meant to say Jim here?

The Collectors Mint Set should be a great competition in 2005!

Who is the last olympic curling champion?

I realize this is unrelated as Curling has been around longer than most of us, but I think the true comparison is there.

WOW! All that because I'd been trying to complete this set for the last month with a $30 coin!

Wondercoin, you should have sniped me on the set. That would be the real competition. Not taking anything away from Bill, but in the spirit of the best set wins, you would have been able to take me.

Bill has known for 6-8 months that I was gunning for him. I posted all the coins in the set for all to see, and I get blasted in the "forum of public opinioin" for having a nice set!

Oh well, that's the fun of the registry sets!

Let's see how high this set goes next year.

Maybe Bill can out gun us all!

Good Luck to all in the registry wars!

    Mitch,

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but some of the comments talk about folks being robbed of having the top set. Maybe I took it personally and shouldn't have.

    James not Jim!

James, Joe and Mitch plus whoever else, I have taken this set as far as I want to go and can go with it. With my coin budget the upgrades just are too costly for me to justify the price for an extra .02 or .05 point each. I am happy with my set as is and I wish you all good luck in 2005. Let's see who can go pop top with none higher for the whole set.

    Good luck to you all.image

P.S. Anyone wanna buy my set I want a new Digtial SLR Camera instead?

I feel competition is great. Bill, I was willing to take a knee out of respect for your getting this set recognized but at the same time to each their own. I like this set and plan to take it further but like alot of people have said I am enjoying the coins not the recognition. About halfway thru the set I bought a new camera for my wife (yeah right). It is a nikkon coolpix 8700. As soon as I learn to use it properly I plan to reshoot the whole set. I used a epson perfection 2400 photo flatbed scanner to take the first scans. Joe

    Bill,

Many of mine are homemade. That's the real thrill of the chase!

Go for it....those coins are out there.

I just made a 59 half in DCAM and a 51 dime in DCAM. Picked up from local shows. Also made a 71-D in 67 last week, again local shows.

The stuff is out there if you look!

The modern is even easier, because there's a lot of it, and most folks can't grade it. The high end stuff is rare, but with some patience, you'll find it!

My local shows, for lack of a better word, suck. Just ask Ponitacinf. Anytime invested in traveling to shows would offset the savings of making my own.
