Do you think I need to soak my BB'd coins in acetone?

I just got a couple BB'd IHCs back in the mail today. They've been in the big PVC flips for about 6 weeks now.

What do you guys think?

Wait! They returned the one in a non-PVC flip, and the other is in a little poly bag.

Still...do you think they should get the acetone?

Do they have PVC on them? Why were the BB'd? Do you have pictures?

    Oh...I should be more clearimage

They were bagged for "questionable color," not for PVC.

My only concern was the temporary storage in the PVC flips.

I think it takes a lot more time than 6 weeks... but I could be wrong.

There shouldn't be any problem if they were only in them for a short time. I wouldn't fool with them.

Acetone may impact the color of copper coins. The consensus is that it seems to be safe for red coins and brown coins. Goo gone seems to work well with brown coins.

I think you should stop buying IHCs- maybe stick to silver coins?? image

  • I would think months/years in a flip to have PVC damage.... good topic tho.....

and to have been stored in conditions that would cause the flip to break down. I've had quite a few coins come from collections that had been in pvc flips for years without any problems.

  • I only use the Acetone when there is obvious PVC damage/residue.

I don't think 6 weeks warrants such drastic measures.
