Registry Collectors,
Don't go to sleep tomorrrow thinking you have the Best Set.You may wake up transformed finding out you are #2.
Or there may be a new collector that bumps you at the last minute
Are ther any predictions of who will eat who ?

Don't worry Stewart, Gerry's not going to list his set (I just couldn't resist).
Pissed me off.

But I collect coins for the enjoyment and fun of it.
When you get too serious, there's no more fun in it.
besides, all my sets, whether they are 100% or not are not in any way competitive with anyone in the top 30 positions anyway.
It is the trmendous challenge of completing a set that makes it interesting to me.
Finding that elusive coin that you've been looking for for months, cherry picking at the coin shows, going through all the raw coins looking for the ultimate PCGS submission, et cetera.
I think you all did great and my hat's off to you all.
A toast to you all for the great collections you all built up.
<< <i>I am sorry to see you being sniped in the 2000 set. I have the ONS set which is #5 presently. You and E. Lyle have been strong the past month, and both of you have played straight up. Neither of you have anything to be ashamed for. I think people like the Lothlórien owner should be required to attend the luncheon to receive their dutifully honors. Maybe they could receive the true meaning of the recognition from their fellow members like you. Like you said, I hope they are happy...ric >>
Ric.Well said. It amazed me for some one to stoop that low. Cheers Ernie (Lyle)..........................I tryed and died.
Just curious.

...a day, an hour, a month...
hats off to the #1s, and the 2s and 3s, etc...

It is difficult to lose at the last minute, but the reality is that another set was "better" under the rules everyone knew about.
It would instructive to note that in general the Merc collectors cheer on their collecting counterparts and drool over quality coins. I wish there were more of that attitude around. I collect for myself and see the registry as community where good things can be shared.
<< <i>I think that the sniping is no different than those who keep their set closed. In both cases you have no idea what the other person has. I know in some of the major sets the key players do not want to be held hostage for the one coin they may need. However, best is best. To me it does not matter when you register your set. Everyone has the same rules.

Quite true... How many other Registry Sets put out the passing signals?

How true.
The underlying theme of the Registry seems to be the collection of PCGS Registry Set Certificates, rather than coins.
Are the certificates going to be worth something some day? How about the year in which you placed first, listed beside your collection name. Will that get you a free grading, a free dinner, a free drink?
I now have the Sacagawea Proof Dollars #2 set after having the #1 set for two years running. All I can say is congratulations Candy great work getting that 1 of 3 2000-S PR70.
<< <i>I got sniped by "Lothlórien Collection" on my 2000 Mint Set in the last few hours...................Hope they are happy.
Pissed me off. >>
If "winning" was so important to you, why didn't you step up and upgrade some coins? Did you not know that there is a deadline each year? Not bashing you, just curious.
William S. Burroughs, Cities of the Red Night
the all-time finest set REGISTERED WITH PCGS. No mirrors, just the way the game is played.
I really don't think that it has gone unnoticed that there are some major players who don't choose to participate in the reg. thing.
That is fine (too?).
Well put!
