At the risk of being flamed...has anyone received their prize from JohnZ yet?

CoinHuskerCoinHusker Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭
I know this is yesterday's news and most thought it was a settled issue but I still have a 10 year old that is wondering where his prize is. JohnZ publicly (well, on these boards) promised shipment on 6/11/04. I'm just wondering if any of the winner's have gotten anything yet? My son hasn't. I've PM'd, called & left a message, etc. and have not received one response from JohnZ.

Has anyone heard anything or gotten anything from JohnZ?

A valid question in my opinion, I don't see why anyone would flame you. If I had held a giveaway and forgot to send something I know I would want to be reminded about it!

Thanks for your concern and support. It's hard to believe it's been nearly 8 weeks since John first said he was going to mail the prizes. It's getting hard to face a 10 year old every day for 8 weeks and look him in his big blue eyes and say, "No it hasn't" when he asks "Did it come today Daddy?"

    give this a whirl:

"no son - it looks like the problems Mr Z had with the people who died in his family are making it hard for him to be able to send the prizes. We should feel sorry for his losses. But since you worked so hard to win the prize, I picked up this one for you, just like the one you were waiting for from Mr z."

  • yes I agree with SF - go on with your lives and don't expect them to arrive ............. then if they do it will be a nice surprise for everyone.

Sarasota, Again you are the answer man! If I could, I would. I'm surprised you didn't know that since you seem to know everything about this situation already.

What's odd, is I received my prize for first place. It seems I'm the only one who has received his award. Along with it I received a letter: "Please accept my sincerest apologies for the delayin getting you this coin. I should have been in better communication with you and the other participants." As this is a trying time for him, he must still be getting his various affairs straightened out.

Thanks Brianruns10. Well at least the firs place winner got his. But why not mail them all at the same time like he promised? No one's accusing JohnZ of anything. It's just crazy (& frustrating) to keep saying he's mailed something and then not following thru. I just don't get it? Why not say, "It will get there sometime before 2008" or something, but don't keep telling a 10 year old kid "to keep his eyes out because it should be there in a couple of days" as he has to us.

I'm a frustrated Dad. OK? I admit it. If I could substitute the prize I would. But I'll never make excuses for what has gone on. We want this behind us more than anyone else, believe me. I've made a post apologizing for re-addressing this situation on the boards. I am sorry, I truly am about a lot of things that have happened and that haven't happened over the past 2 months.

Here's a thought CoinHusker...Give the little dude one of your coins, or for that matter, buy him one; a nice one mind you, tell him it's from john and he's sorry that it wasn't the coin he promised him. When John does send the right coin, the little one will be really happy. You'll be satisfied, JohnZ will be a hero and everyone will live happily everafter.

So, what ever happened with this?

The first prize winner received his prize, we had a couple flame threads, JohnZ has not been heard from, and one or more individuals left the forum in a huff angry over the fiasco. That about sums it up.
  • I have not recieved my coin yet. Several months ago he even described what the coin would look like, etc. It was a silver coin, so it's not that big of a deal. I was at boot camp for 6 weeks and thought it might be back by the time I came home. It wasn't... no real big surprise. If JohnZ really is having problems with his family (For example a family member died) then I understand.
