Dime NOT doubled

Just got my Numismatic News today and on the front page it says "Dime not doubled". What will this mean for collectors like me? Will it be affordable? Will PCGS slab it?

We've got "double nickel", but I don't know double dime.

  • I believe this is reference to an article a week or 2 ago about a doubled ear found on a 2004 dime.

The controversy was whether or not it was really doubled based on the single-press method of creating dies now.

I don't see at all how that could be doubled like that, anyways...

Oh, yes. I believe one of the big problems was that the "doubling" was on top of the relief and not under it.

CW said it was a die clash... this is, however, the second time recently they have called a DD, and changed the explanation within a week or two...

  • So any ideas on avaliability of the coin? Could I get one?

Over the years there have been many "promoted" minor varieties. After their initial surge of popularity they tend to fade away. Don't even worry about this item. I'm sure there are better coins to spend your money on.
