Hi..My name is Paul and I am a coin Submittaholic

fivecentsfivecents Posts: 11,207 ✭✭✭✭✭
I fell of the wagon about a month ago. I love buying raw coins and submitting them in hopes of a homerun or at least a double. I have never been in a casino, so this is the closest to gambling that I come. Man is it addictive.image

I went a year with only a handful of submissions. But I sent in 24 a week ago.

You're only in the early stages of the disease. Wait until you start buying slabbed coins just to crack them out and submit them trying for a hit. Once that happens, there's no turning back. image

I'd rather put my money on a submission where I at least have some control over the outcome, than to take money to vagus with the expectation of leaving with more than I went there with.

Man, I'm sure I violated a few English grammer rules with that one: run on sentence, ended with a preposition, probably a misspelling or two. Oh, I forgot to capitalize Vagus. I'm going to catch heat from the grammer police on this one.

Tassa...Frank let me talk to Marty on the phone once...on my next submisson I got an AU58 1949-S Franklin. (True story) I still don't see the 1949-S at AU58.

Russ....I have been building up some certified coins to crack & cross, so I guess I had better join the 12 step program.image

There's still hope for you Paul. Get back to us when you feel tempted to use their walk-through service at coin shows for $100 a pop. Rock bottom is when you start using that service for NGC crossovers (you can hear the graders giggling behind the curtain when they get those).

...and if you look around you'll see a pigtailed girl wearing ruby slippers and looking for a lost scruffy little dog.

  • Well, be careful. If you catch wheat penny crazy at the same time you'll be sending your submissions

to PCGS in a Mayflower moving van or something.

Yes..Those are what keep me submitting more coins. I try not to use the "throw it to the wall and see if it sticks" techique.

    Paul,

Let me be more specific. Tell us about the homers you've hit. That's what many of us want to know.

When you have different techniques for cracking each brand of slab, you've gone over the edge.
