Help, please, with Arabic Script

This is the reverse of an Algerian medal from 1972 that commemorates the 10th year of independence from France. Can anybody here make out the meaning of the stylized script, including the "word" below the exergue? TIA!

    Ahh... hmmm.... uhhh...

    Oh.

    Got it. I think.

    It says

<< <i>the president's personal valet forced the unfortunate Room Service waiter to serve extremely stinky baked sardines.
    >>

    Or something like that. image

If you'd posted this a couple of weeks ago, could have printed it out and carried it up to the room and asked the president of
Algeria to read it for me. I served him dinner one night. (The same night we served the king of Bahrain). True story about the sardines, BTW. You coulda used the damn things as a bioweapon, they were so foul. I had to fumigate the heater boxes we carried them in. Obviously, that isn't something we usually serve. And when all was said and done, the Algerians never touched them, either. Gawd, those things were so stanky they'd knock you down. Bleh.

    But I digress. image

We need newsman. He can read Arabic.

The word on the bottom is "Algeria." The rest is "(something) 10th anniversary", I think. I'll have to look again when I have a dictionary and can better decipher the script. image

Are you sure it doesn't say something about sardines?

Hmm. Guess I'll stick with the Roman alphabet, then.

Thanks, Newsman! I suspect the "something" is "independence" since that would fit from context.

Sardines, eh? Is there any dish made with sardines that doesn't smell bad? Maybe it's their version of kim-chi ... something the old corsairs of Algiers used to eat just before a pirating raid to make them more fierce. ("He who brings back the least loot eats sardines for a month!") image

    Mark:

It's not "independence," it's something else. That's why I'm stumped. image

Sorry for the earlier confusion. What it says is: "10th anniversary of independence" Kufic script (the style of writing on the medal) always gives me trouble. imageimage
