GOLDSAINT, I do not see any obvious signs of doctoring, only variations in the color (or lighting). The coin looks fine to me.

Whats the tiny F between the S AND O on the obverse? can anyone else see it? You'll need to zoom in to see it of coarse.

Sorry for the double post thought I lost the first one, also tried to post an image and I guess Heritage has a block installed.

Just looks like a contact mark to me. Possibly from the reeding on another coin.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Please take a look at the actual coin in the slab and enlarge the top right quarter the coins edge is melting away.

    GOLDSAINT,

What you are seeing is called "flash". When a plastic object is injected molded, the injection pressure is sometimes higher than it should be and you get small amount of molten polymer sqeezed between the two mold halves. It's happens fairly often.

Could be an artifact of the photography. When in doubt, pass.

It was suggested to me to be fair to Heritage that I should change my post, I did that but it seems to me that a big auction company should make note of the fact that this coin had the PCGS plastic melted over the rim or is this just a common occurance?

I think so. I have got a few slabs back like that.

The coin looks like it could have been hazed over a bit. Maybe to try to the hide some hairlines?

Goldsaint, I see nothing wrong with you naming Heritage in this post. Heritage is just selling the coin on behalf of the consigner. Why is there a problem with that?

Regarding whether or not they should make note of the "flash", I don't think it's necessary. I have several PCGS slabs which show "flashing" around the coin. It's a problem with the slab not the coin.

If the slab were in hand, it would be obvious.

Also, I agree that the tiny F is likely a reed mark from another coin.

Good eye by Caitlin none the less.
