I think I should point out that there are three other members here that have completed this same set and in higher grade than mine (for the time being) Lakesammman/Newmismatist and Stewartblay. These are just the collections that I am aware of there could very well be others.
In fact Newmismatist won a major award (Best of Show I believe) at last years ANA for his 1858 small cent patterns.
I saw newmismatist's set in person and it was amazing. Congrats on your accomplishment. I feel sorry for anyone who is going to attempt to start building an 1858 small cent pattern collection starting now. It may take them 20 years (instead of 10).
Boiler: Congrats on completing your pattern cent set. I know that after completing a 10 year quest, you must get a whole lot of satisfaction in completing your set.

Stewart Thats a great idea but I will need a year or two to look for upgrades to even approach your set or Tims (lakesammman) I feel like a pattern registry is just around the corner. I don't think we could be too far behind the Alaskan Bingles in the registry line up.
All kidding aside, I would love to see your small cent patterns. Maybe you could bring them to the ANA?
Wow, what a great set. I love the presentation of the images too. Congratulations. I noticed that your J-213 is a scarce pointed bust, which is the true transitional - 1859 obverse and 1858 reverse. Also the J-202 has the 6 leaf reverse, which is also the exact reverse of 1859. Only 6 known!
A customer of mine is about finished with his 1858 set. Most all NGC 65 with some cams. It is basically the core from the Newmismatist set, which I am presently selling on my web site (along with others).
Please check out the Fly-In club web site for a very neat presentation of 1858 patterns.
After reading this thread I now understand why I can't find a one lousy affordable J-208. Too many people doing sets!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Outstanding set, a joy to behold, beautiful and rare and super historic (the change from the large cent to the small cent was popular at the time, by most accounts; the elimination of the one cent coin, someday, will likely be more controversial, and imo is right around the corner..) Anyway, gorgeous coins and an awesome set!

Congratulations. That is a fantastic collection.
Are all struck on coppernickel?
Joe.
Nice set ! Perhaps I can entice you into a "Showdown" Your set, mine and Lakesammans ? What do you think ?
Perhaps we can start a set registry of Patterns ?
