Buying PSA cards from Jay at Quality Cards

I have made 3 purchases from Jay within the last few months. Particularly 72 and 75 Topps Hockey PSA cards that are on the PSA registry. He is a truly class act, and as stated in the other thread, I always receive my cards in two days, superb packaging, etc.

I have had several unpleasant experiences from other dealers recently (I won't mention any names here)...I guess buying from Jay makes me a little spoiled, but he is truly a class act and a pleasure to do business with.

    John,

You are correct. Jay is top notch. I can't think of more than a couple of bad things to say about him, but I'm not allowed to post them here! image

why buy from jay, If you pay the night an auction ends, he will ship it the next day and in my case I will get it the next. therefore , I don't have the stress of worrying where the hell my card is for 2 weeks like I do with others.

    Thanks everybody!
Dealing in cards should be fun for the buyer and how can a seller complain? Its not like dealing in dental instruments or selling insurance policies, I get to "play" with cards all day. Beats having to work for a living image ...jay

Jay sets a standard in the hobby for PSA dealers.I look forward to every exchange with him simply because I have never met another dealer who matches his quality in service and experience in the hobby.I mean this without any intention of slighting any other dealer out there, but there just aren't enough nice words to explain how awesome he is.

I really enjoy reading threads where folks have to give Jay the big upps!
    Keep em' coming.image

    Gosh Jay,

I am getting goosebumps from reading all this warm fuzzy feely stuff.image

I would have to echo the sentiments expressed here also.I purchased a card from Jay a while back and it was one of the best buying experiences that I have had.Along with fast shipping and top notch packaging,he followed up with an e-mail concerning my satisfaction with my card.I would like to add that it was a high dollar card and everything was very professional.Anyone that has not bought from Jay is certainly missing the boat.

    Thanks Again Jay,

    Vic

Well I just sealed a deal with him. He was one of the, if not the first, to "open" his arms and welcome me to this community, not only with his inventory but his knowledge and kindness.

Thanks Jay. Stuff is packed and ready to go.

    Class act he is.

My experience with Jay is also great. We exchanged IM's for a long time before I took the plunge and actually bought some cards from him, he is very helpful & informative. He also was willing to work out a payment plan and puts little sun gifs in his emails . image

Thanks again Jay, I owe you a frosty one.

Boys, thanks again for the testimonials.
I just treat all like I want to be treated. I hate buying a PSA card thats loose and unprotected, so I "overpackage" my stuff. As people want the card in tact and not a refund for damaged slab. And just because its my full time profession, doesn't mean I can't enjoy my self in the process. Don't know why others don't have as much fun. Every card I buy as well as sell, I read the stats and appreciate the history of it. I'm having a great time doing what I love to do. Look foward to bumping into as many guys as I can in Cleveland. Or if anyone wants to call w/ a question about cards or the state of affair in the industry or to talk sports, bring it on. Have talked w/ about 20 board members and its always nice to get the one of one of a conversation in place of eMails, PM's & posts...jay

UNISHIP - Sorry, I only have 1 ID, if I had another anonymous ID, I'd probably sign off as my usual "...jay" anyway image
HIGHEND - We can work out our million $ idea, no need to cut the lawyers in on it.

AKNOT - Your cards are packaged and ready to go, w/ 6 bonus Marino's for your titantic endeavour
RW2WIN - According to my wife, every day is "Jay Day"
TIPEM - I was glad to have that '53 Bowman Reese for awhile, its in good hands now, glad you like it. Its a classic!
CALLEOCHO - If its between a car payment or a card, I'll choose the card everytime! image
ROBE - Are you the one that calls and starts crying after you mention "Aunt Bunny"then hangs up?
GRIFFINS - Hoping to do our trade, let me know if its still do-able.

EDITED to add - FUZZ - When I was working on my '66 Baseball set via eBay, you outbid me every time,
so I ended up selling you my '66's, a few hundred spread out in many purchases. I still have your wrapper
guide that I bought in the 80's, and I do reference it now and then. Good Stuff!

I agree with the rest of the guys...Jay is top shelf in my book.

A thread like this blows away any advertisement placed in SCD or the SMR....it is well deserved.

  • I don't know what you guys are talking about becouse Jay's a punk and a drunk! I'd never buy anything from him and i wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Rumor has it that he dresses up in a big ape costume and steals most of his cards from people as they leave the local card shops. Watch out for this guy!

JUST JOKING! Jay is one of the best dealers i've ever delt with and we have had at least 25 transactions in the past. JAY IS TOP NOTCH ALL THE WAY! YOU DA MAN MOOSE!imageimage

  • I also have had a very pleasant experience with Jay recently. The cards came within a couple of days and was willing to work out a deal when I purchased a decent sized lot. My compliments on the whole transaction Jay! Even more surprising, when I sent him the email late that night, he was still working. Man, get some sleep!!!!

  • I can clearly see that everyone on this board is a "Jay" fan. While cleaning the card storage area this week, I discovered a great family heirloom. This is an original, very early "Cavalcade of Sports" collectors pen. This pen was given to me by my Grandfather through his estate but we had discussed it many times. I use to sit on his knee and he would tell me stories of the pen that will last forever. Apparently, this is the actual pen used by Lincoln to wirte the Gettysburg address. It also was used by Fitzgerald to write the Great Gatsby. My Grandfather was given this pen personally on Normandy after the landing by his commanding general for bravery in action. It was a favortie pen of Marilyn Monroe according to my Grandfather during time they had spent together and was used by Ruth, Gehrig , Cobb and Wagner to sign autographs at their enshirenment at Copperstown. It was also the first pen carried in space by John Glenn.
You can see this great family heirloom means everything to our family. Now I am not a pen expert so I can make no guarentees but this stuff did actually happen. So to raise money for my sick childrens school tuition we will be offering it for sale. Paypal only offers, to my account in the Cayman Islands, will be accepted in excess of $25K on a first come basis. No refunds and no returns. Due to security reasons the pen is no being stored in a safety deposit so no pictures are available. Don't miss this once in a lifetime chance for a piece of Wolt history.

    PS. Did I miss anything?

    Jay,
Rob's pic of your card in '72 is extemely nice and well centered. If you resubmit yourself, I think you'd have a good shot at a 9! Think of all the fanfare if you would be Mint - or even Gem!

You could even go one step further and try another pose for the 72 again to increase the chances being included in the 72 set registry. Remember, however, never-ever pick your nose while the photo is being shot. image

    Keep up the good work!

DOUG - Actually that picture is about 15 years old, taken in my card store. I'm even better looking now.

FUZZ - I hope you've taken better care of the pen then you have w/ your quantity of stored wrappers. As you've told me insects have ravaged them.

    BOTR - I wouldn't want to e-submit it, I might get a dreaded qualifierimage

ROB - If you love that '72 shot of me, wait til you see what I have cooking for a 2004 version...jay
  • Jay,
The pen has gotten some use but I would still give it a 7.
We had quite the problem with these little brown bugs that came in a shipment I got that went into the card room. Finally after calling the pest control supervisor after several treatment failures, they bombed the room. Zip up suit and all. It got rid of them finally. The hamster in the room next door is now a foot and half long with five legs but the bugs are gone.
I have just finished going through the boxes and boxes of wrappers/cards/display boxes and it appears that there was no damage to anything. Guess that is a good thing but man were there a lot of dead bugs.

Yeah, Jay sold me some great cards, at a fair price, and shipped them quickly,
but the Kool-Aid packet enclosed was "Swirlin' Strawberry Starfruit".

I believe his choice of a flavor containing the word STARFRUIT ,
was a direct attack upon my icon's masculinity. image
