Solution for the ugly brown box Ikes

OK, I know I'm going to get a lot of heat for this but it was either throw them away because they were so ugly and bulky, or finally do something about it.

I have had about 10 brown box Ikes for some time now, and the ugly haze has gotten so bad that I was about to get rid of them. I cracked every one of them out and dipped them in E*Z*Est solution. Utmost care was taken to dip, rinse, and blow dry each coin. They are now in Supersafe self adhesive holders and they came out BEAUTIFUL!!

Two of them are going to my next submission for grading. Almost all of them were in non-airtight holders when I cracked them out. All I had to do was twist the holder and out they came. No wonder they hazed over.

    another idea?

I was at a Pawn Shop closing sell-out auction last week and they had about 4 brown ikes in the safe that came up for auction. The coins were only worth a few bucks. These were hazed dogs and they sold for 20.00 a piece.

Taking the proof Ikes out of the plastic is a good idea. They will only get worse over time.

This comment applies to late 73 and 74 Ikes only. The early 73 and 71-72 are ok, even tough some of them get some aweful blueish ahze on them.

Dipping them will not hurt them at all.

The good news is sometimes the 74's get some real pretty toning on them.
