Information on gold? medal

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,366 ✭✭✭✭✭
A couple years ago I was given this medal by a very generous forum member. He believes it is gold but isn't sure. Has anyone ever seen one of these and can identify it? It appears to be part of a series for Political Leaders in the World. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know that this is from a series of medals, but that is about it. I think there was a thread about on of these a while back.

Hey, I remember that, now. Gave it to you for your birthday, as I recall. That originall came from out of my grandmother's jewelry box, along with two Austrian gold coins. It sure did look and feel like gold to me.

I'm not familiar with this series, so I don't know whether they're gold or not. Is it a Franklin Mint product? There's something that looks like their monogram below and to the right of the flags on the rev. I can tell you that gold medals are quite uncommon. Mostly, you see gilt bronze or silver. If it is gold, there should be purity marking somewhere -- often on the edge, but not always.

I tried exactly the same key phrase, and several other combinations thereof, and got nothing. Zip. Zilcho. Nada. What engine did you use? I used Google.
