What happened to Liberty's nose on this 1923-D Saint?

Those of you who are familiar with Saints, is it common to see a nose that looks like this? Is it from a weak strike?

1923-D $20 MS66

The nose can be weak from strike but that one has been removed via a large hit. That coin should not grade 66 with that kind of hit.

Otherwise its a nice coin. Real shame about the nose. Its not perfect but then again a 66 should not be. I wonder if the luster is blazing and was forgiven for the large nose hit by "other" factors. I would bug me with that hit though.

I can't believe that is a 66. I would give it a 65. The luster must be oozing off that coin to make up for the nose and the hits near the arm. Maybe I am being too tuff, but that looks like a poor 66 to me.

If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

There is no way in this lifetime that dog is a 66! Go above and look at the previous ones sold in a 66, all PCGS, and none have a gouge like that in the face! Looks like a Presidential Review coin to me!

Looks like a strike through to me and wouldn't affect the grading.

While the reverse looks nice, the obverse looks terrible for a 66.
