What card are you most proud of???

My vote is my PSA 9 1969 Topps Joe Namath. If I could make love to it - I would image

  • i've never been super "proud" of any cards, mainly because i've always had enough cash to afford them. but i'm saving up for a 1955 Quaker Oats Jacques Plante rookie right now, and when i get it i'll be proud as hell of it.

Thanks Jay - how did you place the image in the message box??? (Hey - I'm a CPA...so I'm a little slow to understand such things...)

I don't know if I'd make love to Satch (well, he's dead and everything) but I have very fond thoughts of his 3 mainstream cards. I have 2 of them and can't afford the other (1948 Leaf).

Truly an amazing card. What are the 48 Leaf's commanding in PSA 7+? Isn't the NM raw price $10k?

48L Paige is $6500 for PSA 6 and $11500 for PSA 7, according to July SMR, and probably sells for more in auctions. A very difficult, short-printed card.

I'd be very wary of purchasing any PSA with an ST qualifier from you.

Holy moly, that's some sweet 49B Satch, though I bet you a dollar PSA would refuse to cross it straight. Anyway, PSA 8 is fine for me, and if $75K falls into my lap there's a few Ruth and Gehrig cards with my name on them!

I don't know about "Proud" either (Pride goeth before a fall), but "dizzy in love" might describe my '59 Morrells. Closest to proud would be the raw cards I find that pull good grades, like this 1/1:

I'm also pretty excited over this find that goes in on my next set registry submission:

  • Hmmm...great question. There's quite a number of ways in which cards can earn my pride. Here's some examples:

Significance to a set: Nothing was quite like finding the '78 Burger King Alan Trammell for the first time, just because of what it is--his single oldest solo card, and a tough food issue to boot.

First submission pride: My '85 Topps Trammell in 9 and my '89 Donruss Trammell were the oldest and most condition-sensitive sets I submitted from, respectively, in my first submission back at the beginning of the year. So even though they aren't insanely tough sets conditionwise, I was quite happy to get the grade I expected on both.

"Milestone" cards: I'm a checklist and stats geek, so getting my 500th unique Trammell was a fun event. The card it happened to be was also cool--'92 Pinnacle Rookie Idols #18. I've always liked the concept of this insert set.

It isn't worth as much as the cards that you guys have on here, but I'm very proud of my 1997 Playoff Absolute honors Reggie White. It was inserted 1:7200 packs and he's my FAVORITE player.
