        When you open it, the half and quarter will have a funny smell. It goes away after a couple days.

        Mike;
        Are the coins slabable? High MS?
        What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

        Tom, these proofs are a little out of my area but I do think they are slabable. mike image

        With PCGS, they're about a 50/50 proposition. I've had a couple graded and a couple bodybagged.

          Are you thinking the set was tampered with somehow??

        • All my sets smell really bad, 42 years in an envelope doesnt help.

          62 proof sets are know for the coins turning, I have seen it with all the flat packs but the 62s turn more often then they others, I have a box of them here.
          It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

          Why is pcgs bodybagging toned proof coins like these?? They don't have that real "pfunny", baked look to them.... image

          When they do bag them, it's for environmental damage. This type of toning is caused by something leaching in to the set, which is why the coins smell funny when first pulled. Whether or not they get graded depends on the nature of the surfaces. Judging by the images presented, these two look like they'd be okay since the toning appears smooth rather than bubbly and rough.
