Will this offer for free shipping tick anyone off?

With my recent check debacle, I've been mulling over no longer taking checks--just money orders and paypal. Since PayPal charges a hefty fee, I was considering offering free shipping/insurance to anyone who chooses to pay with a money order (shipping will cost me less than the fee). Will that discourage PayPal buyers? Will those who want to pay with PayPal be indifferent?
What do you think?
Thanks,
Jeremy

I also have no patience when it comes to my coins. I want them NOW! Not take a couple of days to get a money order, a couple of days to send it, then wait for the coin to arrive.
I personally wouldn't take checks either. I don't know your whole situation, but the little I do not, it is a shame someone did that.

NO CREDIT CARDS WITH PAYPAL
And for the record, it's not against PP policy--I can't say you pay extra to use PayPal, I can say you pay less to not

I never had any problems when coins were advertised in papers and magazines and you had to CALL them and send a check or a money order.
It seemed that in the "old days" people were more concerned about getting coins they wanted than how the seller wanted to be paid.
I betcha if I ran an 1889CC buck for half market and would ONLY accept "cash in two dollar bills mailed registered to me" I would still be swamped with orders.
I would kinda like to know the average value of the collections of the "I won't buy unless they offer PayPal" buyers.
In my experience, NICE coins have always sold for good checks.

VERY WISE INFO!!!! Maybe just USPS or banks.
I work for Sunoco and the money orders we sell some people have a hard time getting the funds available at their banks????
I would check with your bank to see what their policy is before shipping item.

I think your suggestion is fine as Paypal preferred buyer I wouldn't care and often see auctions with discount shipping for non Paypal buyers. It is a bonus for non Paypal buyers. A no lose situation I think.

I think you're making a big mistake and overreacting. You had one problem with a check. Don't penalize everybody else for one problem. That's like punishing your entire school for one person's mischief!

It's possible I'll just start depositing them elsewhere and continue to take checks.

I've also noticed that there is a huge difference in the number of bidders and for the selling price for coins sold without paypal.
You will make up way more then the 5% or whatever they charge you by having more bidders willing to bid on your coins.
If I were one of your buyers, you not taking checks wouldn't stop me from bidding but it would take it longer for YOU to get paid because I can't just run down to the Post Office anytime to get a money order. I can drop a check in the mailbox anytime. Don't tell me that I can get a money order from the 7-11 store because a no name brand money order isn't any better than a personal check. Do you only take Postal Money Orders? If not, then what's the point?
I work out of town in the construction biz & it's nearly impossible for me to get to the bank by 5:00 to get the cash to take to the Post Office by 4:30 to get a money order.
Yeah, my bank sells money orders but they charge $5 & I'm not paying $5 extra to get a MO just to make it more convenient for an eBay seller.
And it's a no name brand money order that isn't any better than my no name brand personal check.
