L & C sets bottoming out already?

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,939 ✭✭✭✭✭
Quick scan shows that sets have sold for $124 down to as little as $117 and even $107.55 on eBay within the last 48 hours, and those all appear to have multiple bids.

Are they up or down from here?

Down...but not much...I say they top out around 100
  • Down.

People were probably betting on special matte coins, as were present in past C&C sets. Since the coins aren't special --> Issue price or below.

I think it's kind of early in the game to draw any conclusions.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I expect to see a steady slide over the next few years. They may eventually sell for less than issue price.

Do you think the mint will be able to sell these for $120:

Most of the sets sold and listed now on eBay are from specuators who were looking for a killing. I just received my 5 sets today that were ordered 15 1/2 hours after the sale opened on May 12th . After the specuators have sold out a true value will immerge.

I woudn't touch the pouches at $128. Leather doesn't age very well. I know from having owned a couple of cars with leather seats and a camera. You should see what happened to the leather case of my Zeiss Ikon 35mm camera that I bought at Amsterdam Airport in 1964. In essence they are asking over $90 for the puuch which is ridicuous
