Just like on earth, I 'll be continually outbid on coins that I want. I'll miss the deals due to other commitments. I'll have already spent my coin budget when something I really want comes on the market.

Oh ya, and the slabs all melt because of the heat and all of the fires.

    (hmmm, maybe this isn't heaven?)

Coin collecting? Muslims say you have to deal with 2 dozen virgins first. I have often wondered where they find enough to go around. imageimageimage

Well, since the Lord owns everything anyway (we are temporary stewards), it will be interesting to see if there is the concept of ownership there.

Also, more world coins than I ever imagined. imageimage

Getting all the coins you want forever without working for them would be hell not heaven. Think about it. The Islamic virgins business would be the same. It would be fun for a while, but after the first 1,000 years? No chase, never any turndowns, never any rejection, just machine like submission. Never anything different or new. That would be hell. I think there was an old Twilight Zone episode about that situation.

No, I think heaven is about service, worship, creativity' learning, discovery, etc. Utimately, those satisfy. Didn't Chirst say something to the effect of "Whoever would be great among you must be a servant".

So, with respect to coins, the joy in heaven would be to be able to share our collections and joy about them, with others who are interested. I would imagine that all the great coins will be there, and all interested collectors would willingly trade and share them with each other. After all, even if each collector held a piece for 1,000 years, each of us would still have an infinite amount of time to own it!!!

Endless coins, coin shows, numismatic books and, oh yes, the 72 virgins. . .

But, the catch is that they have to stay virgins for eternity.

You: Widow Mites? That's all you have? How about you Michael? Widow Mites again?! Come on, someone must have something besides widow mites!
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

Fine, but what about the coin collecting?

I've thought about the descriptions of heaven that I've heard of the years on many occasions. And I have to say that if it was actually like how it is usually described, I don't think I would want to go there.

I'm not goin' to heaven. Therefore, I'll be looking for strictly MELT value in HELL.

If you think about prior generations of collectors, establishing "ownership" of specific coins will be difficult. image

Coin heaven would be rubbing my grimy fingers over the smooth fields and frosty cameo of every high-grade proof I've owned, without leaving a print. Coin hell would be waking up and finding all my slabs cracked open next to my bed, with my grimy fingerprints all over them.

  • It is cool to think of having all the coin you ever wanted but I think it would lose its appeal real quick. If I could have all the coins that I ever wanted, I might as well be collecting dirt. I think collecting would have to be not much different than it is on Earth or it would to hold much interest for me.

However, I would love to get the real scoop on all the coins I ever had an interest in. Talk coins with some of the famous collectors and researchers and mint employees. I don't think that would get old for a long time.

It's actually three times two dozen virgins. There are many theological questions
which have already been considered on the open forum..

In heaven coins actually get thicker and less worn as they circulate. If you wait
long enough they'll all be uncirculated.

No but the strikes and planchets get better until after an eternity they're all perfect.

I think with respect to coin collecting in the here and now, there is insight in what you said. Imagine going to a coin show where all the people knew nothing and had no interest in coins (or shared any or your other interests).
