Ebay auction # 3916799654...link someone?? How long till this coin ends up in a PCI MS68 Deep Cameo holder and is now worth $3,000 according to the PCGS price guide??? I bet within 3 weeks. I think they made a huge mistake here by buying under their "Coinmovers" id instead of some other handle......and they link all there PCI auctions to the PCGS price guide.....that really stinks. I don't mean to be the coin police but this really is using PCGS to sell PCI crap coins. Mr. Hall.....are you ready to make some changes soon??? This is what is happening in the real world at many newbie's expense. I'm not coming down on PCGS but something has to change soon. The price guide is being used to help scam coin dealers make money......sorry about this rant but us hardcore PCGS buyers and sellers are hurt by this ridiculous C_R_A_P. Ok....now I feel better!!

I think ManorCourtMan was eluding to the new owners of the coin sending it to PCI for crossover as PR69DCAM. They will then sell the coin on eBay for hundreds of dollars proclaiming that the coin is worth $3,000.00.

Ummm... a real 68 would likely go 70, people! It's too valuable to even be on the charts! image

    They'll estimate it at $150,000!

People use or have used the price guide to try to sell pcgs graded coins for way too much too.

If sellers like coinmovahs couldn't use a pcgs pricing guide, wouldn't they just gravitate towards some other unrealistic retail price list to hype their wares?? image

  • I still have my experiment coin that I bought from Coinmovers ; you know the 1958 PR68 Deep Cameo that doesn't have a trace of Cameo on it?

Wish we could get some people together and start a class action of our own?????????

  • Exactly if that's what the new owners have in mind. I see it allot. I can't even think if I ever saw a coin in a PCI holder up for auction where a recent price is quoted for that grading co. If there's a price mentioned anywhere it's talking about the PCGS priceguide and usually directly! Obviously this thread isn't about PCI, but those taking advantage of the differences in grading. I lucked out of that newbie trap, but I sure came close.

In all fairness, don't you think that PCGS should drop the price guide. One, people use it to abuse the sale of other TPG coins, second, it is never accurate and they don't have the manpower to keep it that way, and third, it is artificially hyping the value of PCGS graded coin!

Coin World, Numisnews, greysheet are never in tune with real world trade values. PCGS should dump it and let others who are in the real marketplace fight this issue and publication of those guides! I'm still trying to find that '99 Proof silver set for 75 dollars according to the PCGS price guide! Swings both ways, yet I have not found on eBay a 1999 Silver Proof set for that price!image

Hall should stand to the plate and drop this crapguide, or does he relish in the humour on eBay!
