That's definitely one seller I'll have to put on my 'don't buy from' list...
I also reported the auction to BJ so he could debate the ethics of what the seller is doing... (guess I have Camaron syndrome this morning).
Cecil Total Copper Nutcase - African, British Ships, Channel Islands!!! 'Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup'
Definitely unethical since he is selling it for the express intent of having someone cheat on thier registry set...

PCGS is probably going to wait until someone buys it before they invalidate it, to see who adds it to their set. As of now the number is still good------------------BigE
The point is anyone can crack out a coin and use the label in the registry. Then send the coin back in get it graded and sell it. No way will pcgs ever know the coin in the registry is only a label unless you put it on eBay or something stupid like that
Placid , has been saying all along that many of the registry sets have no real coins, or have coins that were once in crack outs, and the old labels belong to your competitor. Think how foolish it is to play this game when many of your competitors are just laughing as you pay high prices to build your registry. How many dealers and collectors own nothing but labels. This seller is not shy in telling people what to do.

It might unethical but not illegal.

HEY!! Buy the insert and not the coin. Jerry
Here's a case where setting up a phoney eBay account for the express purpose of winning the item and them severely NEG'ing the guy seems warrented.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
Now, before everybody hangs this guy, it's just possible he may be trying to make a point with his auction.

I started a thread about this last night on the Registry Forum.
