FS: Mercury 1943-S Trumpet Tail S, PCGS MS66FB, single rarest variety in entire series, in finest kn

This exquisite gem was formerly in the Bill Fivaz collection, sold to Larry Whitlow, acquired by me a few years ago in trade, and comes with a copy of my original receipt. Obverse is a silky bright white and the reverse is light golden and silvery with faint traces of turquoise around the periphery. Boldly and evenly struck with just a trace of softness in the letters I, B, and E of LIBERTY.

I exchanged emails with Bill Fivaz several months ago, and he said he has never seen one finer than MS66FB. He also said he had two Trumpet Tails in MS65FB and possibly one in MS66FB. He may actually have another one, but he also may have forgotten he sold his MS66FB to Larry Whitlow.

If anyone knows how many NGC and ANACS have certified, please send me a PM.

$1975 takes the ultimate Trumpet Tail S now, but as soon as I get around to consigning it to Airplanenut, I will let it run its course on ebay.

I also have a 1941-S Mercury Large S/ Small S, Breen 3670, FS010.6, RPM #! in PCGS MS66FB in brilliant white, not a trace of tone on either side. Buy it now for $775 before I consign it to Airplanenut.

BTW, both gems above are in the old green slip holders and are easily true to grade.

Regards,
Dan Lay
