Barry Goldwater Jr. wants to sell me the 51st Statehood Quarter

I wonder if Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands will soon follow

Considering how close that looks to a real SQ obverse, I hope they get in trouble with the SS image

What a Crock! It says way down in the bottom that the word copy appears on this but It doesn't show it on the photo?Isn't the "State Quarter" name a Trademark? Can they legally do this? image
It doesn't mention size or weight. If it's .999 solid silver bullion shouldn't that be on it?And saying that it is the 51st State Quarter is misleading >>

" Now, you can complete your statehood quarter collection with the 51st State Quarter Proof" image Halfway into the program and now we can "complete" our collection ! Give me a break!

Well, it's not .999 silver...that's for damn sure.
  • I already found out about them when the Buffalo Dollars were issued. I'm done. Jerry

No, "50 State Quarters" is the trademarked phrase, if they leave off the 50 then they are in the clear.

See the 100 mil silver part in the description. That tells us it is silver plated. (Although in my opinion they are being a little fraudulent there. A mil is a thousandth and in he case of a plating, a thousandth of an inch. So a 100 mil silver plating would be 1/10 of an inch thick! How ever they us the term mil to mean a millionth of an inch without ever explaining this re-definition. So their "100 mil" is only 1/10,000 of an inch or .1 mil thick.)
  • Personally, I find nothing wrong with this. The ad clearly states that it is a ".999 Silver Clad masterpiece" and that copy will appear somewhere "as mandated by federal law."

However, since this really isn't even a copy of anything, why should this apply? Perhaps because the obverse looks so similar to our CLT.

As far as the design, it's better than probably 75% of the SQ's out there released by the mint. And note that this reverse was designed by Daniel Carr, who posts here often with his designs for future SQ's. I think he's produced some of the better designs for the mint.

I'm not buying one, but I don't have a problem with anyone who does. At least they're not ripping people off with deceptive copy like much of the ebay scum selling ".999 Silver Proofs" as original coins.

One things for sure, the design looks far better than those of the REAL state quarters.
