Anyone ever seen/heard of the dash "E" on the 1940-P Wash. quarter?....

I have a 40-P Washie, and the "E" in liberty has a raised level dash on the upper left below the top on the bar of E. I know, go to the Coneca site. Conica doesn't have pics, and I was wondering if this dash was common. Such as the dash under the second 8 in the 80s series of Morgan dollars (especially the CCs).
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

Is there any way you can post a pic so we can see exactly what you mean?

Wished I could JR, I just don't possess the equipment for such pics. The "E" has a dash on the long bar of the letter E running east to west between the upper and middle bar; moreso, adjacent with the side bar and top bar, pretty much consuming the whole area of the upper partial section of the E. I'm not speaking of any of the 3 bars that make the E. Hope it helps!image

Could it be a die gouge? Does is look like a fourth bar on the letter E or does it look like it could be a different sized "bar" and therefor make me think it might be a die gouge instead of any doubling.

It's a raised dash that encompasses the width of the vertical bar of the letter E, and runs adjacent to the top bar of E, not running onto the top bar. It's not doubling nor a die gouge. It's raised. When looking through the cheapie magnifying glass that I have, it appears as if it's raised as part of the top bar of the E.image

Here is an example (just in a different place than yours) of a die gouge perhaps caused by something hitting the die prior to striking the coin.

I think my 85-p quarter has a dashed E just like what you describe.

Ahh, so a gouge is raised! Hmmh! I thoght it would literally be a gouge, as in, something dug into the coin. Interesting! Thanks for the help.image

The gouge is in the die (depression) so it shows as raised on the coin. image
