Wish Me a Happy Birthday!!

The kids aren't awake yet to wish me a happy birthday, so I thought I would come here and beg for birthday wishes.
Today I turned "Hank Aaron's number" years old! I am as old as Carl Yastrzemski's rookie card (I am probably a PSA 4, too many surface creases and definitely miscut).
While you are wishing me a happy birthday, don't forget to do the same for Juan Castillo, Dave Bristol, and Marty Barrett. They all share my birthday. I am convinced that people born on my birthday have the worst baseball talent of any day of the year! One hall of famer was born on 6/23 (George Weiss) but he was not a player (baseball executive or pioneer). In fact, if you look up George Weiss, it says Bats: Unknown, Throws: Unknown. Was he not able to even throw a baseball so they could see which hand he used??
My 14 year old hit the jackpot with his birthday (8/18). He shares it with Roberto Clemente. I bet the statisticians know which hand Roberto used to throw a ball.
Please go to this site (Baseball Player's Birthdays), enter your birthday, look through the list of players and pick the best baseball player (hall of fame or otherwise) born on that day. I defy any of you to find a sorrier bunch of players than those born today (6/23).

CHEERS!!
Other things happened today in baseball:
Harmon Killebrew hit his first major league homer, off Billy Hoeft, but the Detroit Tigers beat the Washington Senators 18-7.
Happy Birthday!!
That site was excellent. I always knew I had shared the birthday of Roger Maris and Ted Klu (as well as Arnold Palmer), but never knew until now that I also shared it with the Big Unit Randy Johnson (although he is four years younger ).
Great link. Maybe there will be some free gradings waiting for you when you open your presents.

You know you're getting old when you share the same exact birthday as a player who is still active, but considered "over the hill" (I share mine with Kenny Lofton). The reality has finally set in that I will never realize my dream of playing in the majors!
Pete Rose Jr and Dwight Gooden, popped up on my b-day list. Guess I have a gambling or drug addiction problem to look forward to.

On this date in 1988: For the fifth time, Billy Martin is replaced as the Yankees manager. Despite the team's 40-28 record, Martin is axed in favor of Lou Piniella: the Yanks will go to 45-48 the rest of the season, slipping from second place to fifth. It is the final curtain for Martin, the greatest turnaround manager in baseball history.
Happy Birthday.
As a kid, I remember reading the backs of my baseball cards pretty intently. (Not paying attention to their condition, like I should have been, or I'd be a rich man today!). I always remembered the great Jay Johnstone having his birthday the same day as mine. A very cool fact when you are 10...

Collector of Vintage Golf cards! Let me know what you might have.
We can usually expect a good post from you, Happy Birthday Mr. Collector!
Mine is April 31st, so no one shares the joy of that day with me.
sjeanblanc: Scott, since you share a birthday with PR Jr., you don't have to worry about having a gambling problem, but you should keep an eye on your dad.
wolfbear: If you are trying to say that your list of players is worse than mine, then you stopped looking too soon. You had a HOF player on your list (Pop LLoyd). From his bio -- ...when talking great shortstops , John Henry Lloyd should be in the same class as Honus Wagner and ARod. No more complaining!
ctsoxfan: Cool that you did not need to use the website to come up with Jay Johnstone. Your also share your birthday with J.D. Drew and Kenesaw Mountain Landis (you can ban Scott from baseball for associating with gamblers).
67standup: Thanks Andrew! Your unusual (and rare) birthday reminded me that my best friend when I was in grade school was Bill Long (pitched for the Chicago White Sox...pitched the day after Tom Seaver's 300th win for that matter). Bill's birthday was February 29th, and when I was little I never could understand why he didn't have a birthday every year.

You're an old fart! But I'm an old fart+1y+2d, as my birthday was this past Monday the 21st.
Thanks for the cool link. My wife has been bugging me to find BB player's bdays on our kids bdays and the link was of great help. Out of the four of us, our little icon girl Sara takes the top spot sharing a birthday with Willie McCovey. The rest of our bdates are mostly 'commons', but hey at least they got to lace-'em-up!
Happy B-day Bob and remember there's always someone out there lurking that's a tad older than you!

Cool the "Mad Hungarian" and I share the same B-Day.
PackCollector: Dreifort was awesome in college at Wichita State (my hometown). Him and his brother had pretty good bats as well.

Happy Birthday!
<< <i>I've got you all beat for the crappiest players who share a birthday: Rob Deer and Steve Busby are about as good as it gets for Sep. 29th. >>
Steve,
I have to disagree. Rob Deer had 230 lifetime home runs and batted .220 lifetime (he also has his own fan club). Steve Busby had 22 wins in 1974. Mike McCormick (also born on the 29th) had 22 wins in 1967. Rich Reese (29th yet again) batted .322 in 1969. Superstars all (and amazingly all share the number "22" to symbolize their greatness).

I don't need to check the website to know that I share a birthday with my favorite player of all time - Willie Stargell. It just adds a little something to my collection for me. BTW, he was born exactly 30 years before I was!
