I believe he is hoarding 1965 quarters.

I've sold Morgan dollars to a guy that thinks he's going to put a dent in the year 1903 Morgan population. Some people are NUTZ!image

Cool! Only about 909,858,139 left to go before you have enough to affect their value - that would be HALF of all that were made, which is probably better than thee fourths of what's left in circulation. 1965 quarters were minted to DEATH - saving anything short of your lifetime savings in them would have no effect at all on their value.

How about hoarding something that you might gain from? How about P mint Tennessee statehood quarters? At least those have some slight chance of being worth something some day, and plus, you would only need to accumulate 143,234,000 to have half of all made, and I understand from the dealers that the Tennessee quarters are becoming quite valuable.

When shooting for a goal, you should first research that goal, gain some knowledge about the subject, use a little logic to see if it's possible to attain, and only THEN set out for it if all the arrows point to it. Trying to change the value of a modern by hoarding them from circulation is only going to exhaust you and will prove absolutely nothing.

Better yet, if you really are serious, offer 30 cents each plus postage to anyone who helps you and I'm sure you'll be broke in a couple of weeks.

I don't think he's really saving 1965 quarters. You'd actually need hundreds of millions
of dollars to affect the price and then it would be nominal since people would see them
disappearing and start saving them themselves. Actually laying your hands on all these
would prove problematical also, especially when it got down to that last one. Has anyone
actually looked at these recently? They're almost all heavily worn and still you can tell
that they were poorly made by worn dies. Nearly 25% of them have severe damage from
circulation and half of them have been destroyed through attrition. There has to be some-
thing rare to save that looks much nicer.

And here I thought the 60 plus I had were excessive. I bow before the Master.

roll the quarters, take them to the bank and get folding money, and buy something nice.
