Very tough to find exceptional coins to buy

Have you experienced how hard it is to find truly great coins to buy? It seems like the major dealers offer the best stuff to their top clients or keep it for themselves. The remaining coins are either low quality for the grade, overpriced, lack eye appeal, lack luster, lack rainbow color, etc... These remaining coins that "fall short" seem to fill the web sites of dealers, and stay in stock for long periods of time.

I realize there are not many great coins to start with, but they seem particularly tough right now. Your thoughts?

This run-up in the coin market has depleted the supply of AVAILABLE nice coins in the typical dealer's stock. The coins being offered by my local dealers (and there are quite a few) have the look of strictly second string merchandise. I suspect that at a show like the ANA the good material will come out, but at very high prices. I have already stopped visiting many of the local dealers who are a bit of a drive because the trips haven't been worth the gas. The same goes for the local coin shows.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • It really is getting harder and harder to find quality material in all the series I collect. I refuse to buy the junk I keep comming seeing at all the shows.
