Is Adam Laroche Going to be any good?

I have a chance to pick up a couple of his Finest Gold XFractors and want to know if it's worth pursuing. Looks like he was only batting 241 before the DL... I know a lot of you watch a lot more baseball and followed his minor league career more than I... Any opinions?

  • I personally don't think so. I am saying this from an investing standpoint. I have never purchased one single card of his, so my opinion isn't unjust. What I read about the guy was that he will not have much power. We all know that HR = $$$ in this hobby. Once I read that, I decided to stay away. If he does start hitting the ball, his '02 Elite is the card to get. It's his only true RC, and it will be the one to watch. Every other card will not be considered his true RC. This day and age, rookies are the way to go. If it isn't the true RC, any card will eventually lose it's luster. This is a hobby fact, not just my opinion.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

Thanks Roach. I was actually hoping you would respond, I know you watch this stuff closely. image I noticed he wasn't hitting for average or for power before he hit the DL, so that's why I had to ask.

    Thanks again!
  • At best he will be a John Olerud type hitter... at best mind you. Or we may closely resemble Rico Brogna. Either way don't think he will ever hit too much for power. Possibly may develop into 12 -15 homers a year, but I don't see anything over 20 homers a year.
