If somone would post general information regarding the Chicago show this week I would appreciate it. Is this primarily an international show or not? I'm looking for location, general public dates, approximate number of dealers, chances of finding great date, spectacularly toned Barber dimes - you know, the basics!
Thanks,
Casey

Chicago Coin Show Info
There wasn't a lot of international stuff last year, but some. I wasn't looking for it so there may have been more than I remember, but I doubt it.
I hope the link works. It'll be my first link. If it doesn't, the site is www.collect.com/shows
I visitied this show in 2002 and 2003. Its importance on the show circuit seems to have grown recently, with most of the national dealers attending. I expect most of the big boys will pack up by Saturday afternoon, having done most of their business before the public is admitted.
Still, there should be more than enough coins to amaze any collector. If the major dealers don't acknowledge your presence at their display cases, there are many friendly midwestern dealers who will let you dig through their cheap stuff, even on Sunday morning if necessary.
If you are looking for world coins, you would have done better at the Chicago International Coin Fair held nearby every April.
The biggest drawbacks to this show are the parking rates ($11 last year), a long walk between the parking garage and the bourse, and the unrelenting traffic through Chicago to O'Hare.
PM me if you need recommendations for places to pick up cheap food or to take an offbeat break enroute.
