Pleasantly Suprised

I know there have been numerous threads about grading, both good and bad, but I am posting one anyways. Here is my story.. I have stayed clear of buying ungraded cards for a number of reasons mainly because I dont have the knowledge to grade cards. Well I was at a show about a month ago and could not find but one small table of vintage graded material, VERY DISAPOINTED to say the least (Tri Star show..Massachusetts) I decided to buy some older football, just cards that appealed to me. I decided why not send them in? They look good in the holders, I expected all 4-5 grades. I get them back and I get one-4, five-6's, one-7 and ONE 8! Very happy. This is not a big deal, the value of the cards is minimal at best but enhanced the value of the cards compaired to what I paid. I thought I would share this positive story about getting suprised at grades.

Thanks for sharing your grades with us. I'm glad it worked out well for you. It's really nice to read posts about the grading that pleases the submitter. QWe don't hear about this enough.
There's nothing like pulling top grades on raw cards that you've fished off a table.
To me, it's poetry!
"All evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
I got to add that this has made me open minded a bit more than I have been about buying cards that are not graded. I have been under the impression that "unless it is graded then dont buy it" However my 56' topps set I will not buy unless it is in a 7 or better holder but as for the rest of my collection I guess I see no real reason not to pick a card up and take a shot at getting it graded especially if its a card that you like. Being really fussy takes away some of the fun of card collecting, especially if you are in it for the pure enjoyment that it brings, I know for set building you have to be in it for the challenge and be more strict as far as what grades you will add but for other cards why not just enjoy.
