Home Buy, Sell, & Trade - U.S. Coins

A sad day in the life of one Silver Dollar Collector :( PQpeace . My Collection is for sale !

After a many sleepless nights,I have decided to sell all my Morgan and Peace Dollar Registry sets.
39 years of collecting the best dollars I could find, within my budget are over....for now...

Also..after carefull consideration,I have chosen Superior to sell my coins in the upcoming Pre-Ana sale in Pittsburg.
They fill the room, and have the right buyers for Silver Dollars.

About 230 pieces will be on the blocks, including coins from the # 1 PL and DMPL set.

Some of these dollars are one of a kind, and can never be replaced or duplicated.

15 of my coins will be in an upcoming Teletrade sale.. sale # 1902 on June 28th.

In my opinion,at least 25 of my coins will be in a higher holder in the near future.

All my sets are on the registry pages under "Larry Shapiro"

I am happy to help anyone with information/history of any of my coins.

  • Expect some strong bids Larry! If your entire collection is anything like the coins you've shown me, it ought to be one hell of a frenzy! Good luck!

  • Hey Larry,

This doesn't have anything to do with Legend's PCGS tirade does it? I know in the past you've been really burned by the PCGS snobbery.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

    Tom

Has nothing to do with PCGS.
I never even read that thread.
I support PCGS 100%,and without them,I would not be collecting or selling coins,

Larry I was so surprised to read this. You love those coins; why sell if I may ask? Are you thinking about going toward another direction?

    Thanks

  • Larry,

Best wishes to you, a legend among silver dollar collectors. I sometimes deal with Steve of Pqdollars, and he's pretty sharp. Although your set is out of my league, I would be interested in the results of the sale if this is made public. I'll bet my friend, Mike Casper, might buy your entire collection.

    Larry,

Sorry to hear this, but I hope that the coins do well for you and you move on to whatever else in life you want to move on to!image

I finally completed my Peace $ set, even though the 34-S is a AU coin. I am kind of stuck in knowing what to do next, so I have been selling some lesser coins until I decide more about what I want to do coinwise. I agree with you about PCGS completely by the way!

Anyways, I wish you well in the future.

Larry: Although I do not know you personally, I feel as though we share the same love for top quality PL/DMPL Morgans. I've seen some of the coins with your pedigreed name on the grading label, and they are always awesomely beautiful Morgans that I truly enjoy looking at with great respect.

I hope that you have decided to sell your coins for a good reason, while you are at the top of the hill, at the peak of your game, and while the market is truly a sellers' market. I hope that you are under no duress to sell, and that it's with a clear conscience.

I am slowly and carefully building my own collection and registry sets of PL/DMPL Morgans, and have bene taking a breather until this frothy market calms down a bit and prices hopefully correct downwards a bit.

I wish you well in whatever you plan to do, and I'd be honored to meet you some time and swap some coin war stories and to share our mutual enjoyment of coin collecting with one another.
