That is what we commonly refer to as either A) a grading gift, a grotesquely over-graded pos or C) all of the above.

The coin has toned that color because it has be cleaned with a detergent. I have seen that many, many times. It's nothing short of environmental damage. Horrible!

Amazing! See, THAT is why I love these boards! I would have NEVER known that! So do you think it was slabbed that way or does that happen after it is encased? If it happened before, it's really sad it wasn't caught by a grader in the TPG room.

I thought there was something strange. That is why I asked if it might be a type of corrosion. It is still really pretty but after knowing the probabale source of the color, I am bummed...
