  • I was only present Thursday. Arrived shortly after opening to a room of partially attended tables. A few dealers arrived and set up while I was walking the floor. Some were set up, but never showed. A lot of tables were just empty, per the table list. Attendance was sparse and didn't pick up during the 3-4 hours I was present. Cherry picking time for me.

I was after old PCGS holdered coins and there were lots of them. I was also on the lookout for some raw material, there appeared to be plenty to choose from. The dealer turnout may have been light, but the inventory was excellent. I don't collect gold or silver dollars, at all, but almost every dealer has some. There was early copper to be found, especially IHC proofs. I didn't see a lot of holdered Lincolns except for key dates. Bought one IHC and one Lincoln for designation review potential. Didn't see a lot of 2c or 3c selection. This was Buffalo hunter heaven. I looked over the large selection of 36 satin proofs before I selected one. I didn't see any toned proof Jeffersons. Somebody mentioned that they didn't see any holdered Rosies. Now that I think about it, there wasn't much modern holdered material at all. I also didn't notice that much older silver besides dollars. It might be that there just weren't many pieces that appealed to my eye. Mercuries were plentiful, as were Frankies. I saw a few nice early Washington proofs, but I'd already spent my limit.

I didn't get a chance to go back Friday for the proof lot auction. I'm real curious about the prices for some of those lots. I'd considered a few of the smaller lots as possibly being within reach if I didn't buy anything else.

  • I arrived for the show thursday afternoon and spent about 5 hours looking over the bourse floor. There were a lot of Barber coins with all grades available in raw, Certified MS and Proof. To me, there was a good dealer turnout, it was hard to make all the tables in the 5 hours I was there. The collecting crowd was very thin though with most of the dealers doing deals with each other. I did pick up a nice toned 35 Arkansas in MS 66 with awsome toning on both sides and a raw Blueberry Bag Toned Morgan. There was a lot of toned Morgans at the show but prices were out of sight. One of my highlights was meeting David Bowers and getting him to sighn his Morgan book, He was very friendly and spent several minutes with me giving me opinions on some toned Morgans I had with me.
    Thanks

I was at the show on Saturday, quite a few dealer tables empty. I don't undestand why. I would assume that a Saturday would have more customers attend. I work M-F so Saturday is the only day I can go. I was lookig for the following.

    Colorfull 67 Roosevelts
    Colorfull 65-67 Walkers
Choice AU55-58 Barber Halves, Barber Quarters, Seated Dollars, Seated Halves,Seated Quarters, Bust Quarters, Bust Halves
    Choice VF35-AU55 Early Dollars.
Anything NICE that jumped out at me.

I left without spending a dimeimage
