Stuart, do you have a fine white balance on your camera? Set it to incandescent, and that should kill the yellow tint.
  • Any way you photograph it Stuart - magnificent. What a beautiful coin.
    Thanks for the pics.

    WOW!!! image
what a beauty, Stuart!! image At the date area, is that a hint of an old wiping? Die polish lines?

Beautiful coin. Seated Liberty coins really look nice in mintstate.

All: Thanks for your compliments on my 1877 ICG MS-62 (PL) Seated Liberty Quarter

maddogale: The polishing lines that you refer to on the coin photo do not look very prominent when examining the coin in person. I just put it under my binoscope, and they are very minor. They appear more likely to be die polish lines, but to be honest I can't confirm that.

Eric: Thanks for your guidance regarding white balance on my digital camera. SInce I use my wife's camera, I have not carefully studied all of the image setting options -- but I do appreciate your suggestion. I may check it out...

Or, better yet, see if you can meter the white balance--that way, it will be right on for the light you're using, not just close.

Jeremy: Thanks for your suggestion on metering the white balance. I'll check if our old Olympus C-720 Ultra Zoom has that capability.

Tom: I agree with your above quote -- especially when it's a nicely toned Seated Liberty image

    Beautiful coin.

    So, will it cross? image

Dave: Good question, although I had not thought about it. I have not yet tried to either crack out or cross-grade any coins. I've only recently got my first set of 19 coins graded by PCGS -- all were raw coins...

The only reasons that I'd try to cross it would be to get a better price if I were planning to sell it, or to add it to my type coin registry set.
I don't currently have plans to do either at this time, but thanks for posting on the thread and for asking image
