Proof Kennedy - Strange Marks/Abrasion

I was examining a 1982 Proof Kennedy I had, and found a small area of what seems like abrasion behind the head on the obverse.

I took the pic at an angle so you can see the area. When I look at it directly without tilting it, I cannot see this area.



What exactly is that?

Yep, it's post mint damage.

Hmm, figured as much.

Was in a plastic bag for many years, in a coin jar with other coins. Almost no protection.

Could be from rubbing against something?

That's what it looks like. It wouldn't take much since proof mirrors are very delicate.
