Old enough to have regularly used kerosene lanterns, listen to piano rolls of ragtime and Fats Waller, and to have owned a tail-finned Cadillac convertible. Actually, I'm 45, but most of my coins and other interests are older.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Thanks for that distribution. I was going to followup with a similar summary.
I would say the hobby looks pretty healthy. I'm surprised at how many "under 20" users we have (I wouldn't think they'd know about this forum) and I'm surprised at how many "21-30" users we have (a demographic usually chasing women instead of coins).
And all this time I thought coin collectors were Baby Boomers like myself. This bodes well for the future of coin collecting, seeing so many younger people.
Now, we need another younger generation to follow us in the ranks.
Mike Hayes ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Coin collecting is not a hobby, it's an obsession !
I'm pleased to see a young group also, though it's not that surprising. There are lots of very active dealers and collectors at the average large show who are now younger than me. I'm 26 and can no longer bank on being the youngest face at any small get-together of coin weenies.
I'm 12, but going by my interests culture-wise, it would seem more like I was born in the 50s or 60s. That's why I'm a nerd, and proud of it. Give me the Rolling Stones any day over Usher, Britney Beers, Stink 182, or any other POS band my age!
I'm with you Craig, I feel like an ancient old, decrepit mummy when I get up....the price one pays for a mis-spent youth.
You know you're in trouble when you look back and all my heroes were either tough guys like Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke, Gregg Bingham and Lord help me....Evel Kneivel! Gee, I wonder why I hurt so much!
Remember that old movie, I think it was called "North Dallas Forty" with Nick Nolte and I think his Name was Mac Davis? That's me in the mornings!
Next month I'll be 50. Where did the time go? I can remember taking Driver's Ed, wishing there would still be Muscle cars rolling off the assembly lines when I got a license....turning 18 so I could drink! Wow, BF deal.
Now, if I'm fortunate and live just another 20 years, I will have gone from a young boy to a 70 year old turd in the blink of an eye.

<< <i>When I was born most coins were silver but there were no silver dollars of recent mintage. >>
Speaking of this, I was kinda shafted by silver and my birth year.
I'm the fifth of five children, born in 1965. All of my other siblings got silver coins for their birth year sets. I got clad.
