Question for you Darksiders.

Does anyone get the ANA's publication? on page 6 of this month's issue (july), there is a picture of a cool looking coin. What is it, and where is it from? there isn't a date on it, so perhaps it is some kind of medallion. either way, I like the design! image

    Just came today. Dragon on one side Rampamt Lion on the other with Republica Tigurine Moneta on the lion side

    Looked around, couldn't find anything like it, although I found a couple of lion themed thalers. I did, however, find this... shooting thaler

    No such taler in this combination...at least according to Davenport. What they have done is give you a one-sided view of two different taler coins which are both generic for the Swiss cities of Basel (with the Basilisk) and Zurich (the Lion). Both are from the 1700's but these two designs pretty much were used throughout the 1700's.

    Here is an example of my only Basel Taler from 1756 (different Basilisk but you get the picture)

    Geez I Was all over my 1700 Krause no wonder I could not find a coin with this combo of obv and rev.
