Car Wash find

I stumbled across this coin in a car wash in Spain. I posted it on another web page and someone told me that it is a coin of Augustus fabricated in Lugo. He told me that it is rare, but how rare i don´t know. I´ve searched numerous websites, but have found no information on it. If someone could fill me in on some info on this coin, if there is any, it would be greatly appreciated.

I guess some pre-Euro coins are still being accepted at car washes in Espana, eh? image

I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with it. It could be an Ibero-Celt issue as they are found from time to time in Spain.

I have no idea what it is, but there are some increadibly knowledgable people around here...you might want to edit your thread title to include that you are looking for a coin ID. Some of these people cannot resist a challenge (and almost everything ends up identified), but they may not check this thread without something in the title like "what is this?" or "please help identify" or something. Good luck and welcome!

  • SPAIN, Uncertain Mint. Augustus. 27 BC-14 AD. Obv: Bare head left; palm before, caduceus behind. Rev: Round shield. Reference: RPC I 3; Villaronga 989.

Not worth a great deal of money. Perhaps $15-50, maybe even more to the right buyer. Pic's a bid dark for me to say much more than that.
