I received my Exquisite box today in between my door when I arrived home...

UPS left it there those sons of beeyatches. I can't believe that they can do that!! I always thought that someone had to sign for it? Anyway, I have been staring at the freakin' box for the last 5 hours or so wondering if I should open it or not.

The truth is, I put this pack/box on my credit card and early next month when the bill comes in my wife is going to rag the sh!t out of me unless I have the money to send in. I'm honest.

I paid $480 total delivered. These boxes are going for like $550 now on Ebay and it just came out. In my predicament, would you take the chance and open the box and maybe hit a big card that I can sell on Ebay for more, or just sit on the sealed box for awhile and watch the values of the boxes go up even more. Then I can resell the box and keep everything over $480 as profit. Two things worry me - 1) A lot of the great cards are pulled over the next couple months and people realize that their isn't too many good cards left in the boxes so the price to buy a box comes down. 2) I sell the card for a small profit on Ebay and the guy that I sold it to emails me and tells me that he pulled the 1/1 Lebron/Jordan NBA Logoman card that hasn't surfaced yet. Or anything else that may bring in around $2,000 or more.

I have pretty bad luck, so either scenario would be bad luck for me, right? Knowing me this freakin' box will be ripped within the hour, but I really don't want that bum RC or some crappy game jersey auto if it is from Glenn Robinson or some loser like that.

There is reportedly like 3,000 total boxes, and I have to believe that about 2/3 have already been opened. These packs may be pretty pricey in just a few weeks. I am literally torn. How about some friendly direction. I know that I make the ultimate decision, and I can handle that. But I wouldn't mind some friendly advice for the hell of it. Either way I will post 100% honest results if and whenever I tear it open. Thanks!

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

If I could buy and resell lottery tickets for a profit, I'd do it everyday and twice on Sunday.

Let somebody else take on the long odds of a big payoff.
  • C'mon, could you live with yourself if you sold it and got an email from the buyer saying thanks because he pulled a 50K card?

My bust netted me 130$ back and that included the wooden box selling for 10$ on its own! Good luck either way but i dont see these boxes going more than 550$ i could be wrong though. in my opionion they will start droping like all the others.
  • TheRoach,

Sell the box on eBay for a profit now and have the money available when the credit card bill arrives. The guarantee of domestic harmony outweighs the possibility of a major coup and it far outweighs the repercussions if you end up pulling items with no resale value.

Just my opinion, good luck with your decision.
  • I did want to add one more thing. I know people compare this to lottery tickets. Opening this box would be a 100% gamble for sure. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. But I will say that there isn't a single lottery ticket out there in any state that can guarantee that there is roughly 3 $20-$25,000 prizes spread out over just 3,000 tickets.

I'm just saying that if there is only 3,000 total boxes, and they have 3 (or more) of those NBA Logo Man cards that are 1/1's in those very packs somewhere, the odds are much better than the lottery. The freakin' Kobe/Lebron was at $25,000 last time I looked with a few days left. A card like that could pretty much change my life. Ok, at least get me out of tons of debt. If the Lebron/Jordan is pulled, I have to believe it will go for $30,000+ considering what the other one is at.

I'm sorry, I am jus trying to convince myself even more. The truth is, I never spent more than around $25 for any single pack. That was more than likely a Leaf Signature pack. I was never into it. Something convinced me to go nuts on this one product. Thanks for the advice so far.

What was your first intention when you bought it?

    Think long think wrong.

  • My last post on this thread for now. I am just posting to say that a decision will be made within an hour or so if I was to open it. I will post the results immediately after, or my wife will because I have hung myself ( it's still better than her wrath ).

I'm leaning towards opening it and taking one for the team!!

The AC guy came over to my office today to fix one of the units and I am now 500$ lighter AND no chance for a great pull or a 20K flip!
Putting it in that perspective - if I had it in front of me - and mind you I am now primed - I would OPEN that sucker!
But I would sure understand if you were to wait and see which way the wind blows down Ebay alley.
Good luck which ever way you choose.

  • Open that ish up....there are still a ton of high $$$$$$$$$$$$$ cards in those boxes. Sure you can sell it and make like $50 but do you want to receive that email where the buyer says...."LOOK WHAT I PULLED!!!" and you regret for the rest of your life not busting that thing open.

Just think of the rush when your opening the pack. Just think of peeing your pants when you see 1of1 and Lebron James name on the card.

    OPEN THAT SUCKER UP!!!!

You want to open it. So, open it. You will feel better if you do so. Forget the bucks. Plus or minus a few is part of the gig.

Sell it. You will make a 10% profit in a couple of weeks by doing so. You do not sound like you are in a good position to gamble on hitting something huge.
