Just thought I would say 'hey'.....
I have been reading on and off for a while and finally took the plunge and signed up. I collected TONS when i was younger (1978-82) (when kids still collected for fun) and finally dusted them off and sort through them....I am hoping to move some that have value (gotta love Ebay) and use that as seed $ to focus on completing a registry set from the 50's.... any advice, warnings, ect?
I am determined NOT to let making $$ consume me as I do this!!!!!

I just started a '65 Topps set myself. Registry sets are so popular that there is a forum just for them Link My advice is to find out what you like and then either look-up so ask for the SMR's of the set and find something in your price-range so you don't get half-way in and run out of money!

Welcome to our world - once you cross that threshold, there is no turning back - stacks of plastic will be "calling" you from where ever you are - you will wander the earth aimlessly in search of your next fix. Is one set enough? Two too many. Three's a crowd. Four is insanity!
Good luck - Oh and by the way, a lot of people are partial to the 55T set to start due to the size.

After one month of digging through my cards from '72 to '78 --- YES --- I have become obsessed with those little plastic PSA holders. From my first submission I got a couple of 8's (1976 Aaron #1 and Yount) and 7's (Ryan 1973; Ryan, Brett, Yount, Rose, Brooks Robinson all 1975. Just sent in another 10 for grading seeking the elusive (?) 10. Sorting through 3000 cards with son is fun - except the little rat likes to ding the tender corners.
Still need to figure out these pictures you all put up with your postings- trying below.
Collecting 2004 Topps Finest now, and getting some good pulls - gold rookie autograph of vito... + bernie william gold 2/50 (for sale on ebay). Shameless plug.
Ciao.
