    It doesn't belong in plastic.

    Liberate the poor thing.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

I would leave it if it is original... I couldn't see a picture

    Here's my 'other' explaination:

if( (you prefer them raw) .and. ((it's a lower value coin) .or. (you never plan on selling) ) then
    Crackout!

if( (it's a higher value coin) .and. (you eventually want to maximize resale) .and. (the grade is fair/high for the coin))
    Leave in holder.

if ( (you prefer the holder) .and. (it's not undergraded) ) then
    Leave in holder.

Personally, I would leave it in the holder.

  • Once you crack it out, it's raw again. Leave it in the slab, that way, there is definitive proof that the coin is the coin you say it is if you ever want to sell. Even if you don't want to sell it later, it's a) protected, b) has an official grade, c) won't lower it's value.

Any coin I ever get that is slabbed, will remain so, regardless if it "fills" a hole in an album. I would now have the coin, the "hole" is filled, regardless if the coin is physically in the album itself.

Why bust it out, unless you have a reason to, like putting it in an album, or maybe all your others are in Airtites, or whatever.

I've given up on cracking out coins I buy from others already in slabs. At least the slab is somewhat of a guarantee of authenticity, which is a plus for coins such as these that are often faked.

I voted "other" and thought that my explanation was weak but acceptable under the circumstances. I would leave it the slab.

Having been on a craking spree lately, I voted to crack. I have been cracking the slabs to store the coins in albums, tho, so if you are not going to do this, I'd suggest leaving it in the slab....
