Another PSA 9 1975 Topps Ryan on the bay

Let the bidding begin.....

How much will this one go for? I do wish it had better centering though

How many times do we have to read the same crapola in an auction description i.e. -

<< <i>and this one is a PSA 9 Mint and looks like a PSA 10 Gem Mint. >>

If it looks so much like a 10, then why isn't it a 10? Another PSA mistake? Yeah right...

    or

<< <i>this is probably the closest one to a PSA 10 GEM MINT!! >>

You have seen all of the other 1975 Nolan Ryan PSA 9's ever graded, every single one? And this is your determination?

It just gets old, doesn't it? Every PSA card sold on Ebay is "undergraded" or looks like the next highest grade...always!

It would be a 10 if it weren't for the L/R centering. This card demonstrates perfectly PSA's refusal to grade cards as Gem Mint, despite a flaw or two. Come on PSA - we're in the 21st Century here, not the 16th. Get with the program. If it weren't for errors like this, every card in my registry would be in a 10 slab.

is it just me or is this crazy?

It's just more cheesy marketing from a smarmy carnival barker. (As if this card needs it.) But, that centering will keep this card under $1000 I predict. It's off by a good margin both ways. Not much eye appeal. I may scavenge if it languishes, you know, buy the grade and not the card.

These are high times for us Nolan Ryan collectors!!! Lots to choose from: 1968 OPC rookie (congrats Scott Jeanblanc!!), 1993 Refractor (3rd this month!), 1975 Topps PSA 9, 1982 Topps PSA 10 (2 copies), 1979 Topps PSA 10 (1 of 1 and my near $1100 bid fell short), and the créme de la créme the 68 and 77 Venezuelans!!

    Who will win??

    Who won't win??

How much will they go for??

Stay Tuned! Same Ryan time... same Ryan channel!!

  • Got some dry powder, recent auctions closed, payments flowing in, yet I am not all that confident of getting any of these beauties. Maybe a second mortgage.... hmmm.

  • What is the seller of the 1975 Topps Nolan Ryan PSA 9 smoking.

The last 75 PSA 9 Ryan went for $1400, the highest one I have seen went at $1800+, as far as I know one has never sold for $2500. image

Needless to say I am going to take a shot at this one and a few of the other Ryan PSA 10's image

  • Hello - new to this excellent message board.

I just got back a 1975 Ryan PSA 7 with my first submission, plus other 7's from 1975 including Yount, Brett, Brooks RObinson and Rose. Any idea on the "market value" for the Ryan 7?

    Thanks -

My suggestion would be to not submit 1975 Topps cards that aren't likely 9's for the most part. You are peeing away good card money getting NM 1975 cards graded with very few exceptions.

Your Ryan should fetch $25-$40 depending upon its overall eye appeal.

Based on ebay and show prices for raw vs. graded, for '75s, Yount and Brett are worth getting graded in a 7. Aaron, Ryan, and Rose (regular cards only - not leaders or highlights) may be too. No one else is.

PS: Hey Jeff, nice snipe on that 1991 UD Ryan PSA 10 the other nightimageimage
  • Steve and Jeff,

I agree, nice snipe. Although another 10 or 20 on top of that wouldn't have been all bad, lol.
