Hmmmm, how to pick the number logically.

If I pick 500, I'll most certianly lose. Guesses above and below would most certianly take it.
1 and 1000 are very limiting too.
The best way would be to try to cover half or a quarter of all of the numbers.

I'll pick... 687.

Just to let you know the process, I turned to my lady (without explanation) and asked her to pick a number between 1 and 1000. She did without asking (then I told her what I was up to). This is on the up and up and the winning number has been selected (but not guessed yet). Good luck!

Again, as long as someone doesn't try to "game" it, you may guess as many times as you like. If you start guessing in sequence (or obviously trying to circumvent the guidelines), then you lose. I will be the final judge, as I am the one giving the coin away and have nothing to lose.
