So ask her what the date was, and tell her you will look for it when you have the chance, then get her one. Any XF piece with the right date will probably make her happy. Now if she is really positive it was 1918, 1929, etc THEN you are in trouble. image (Also hope she doesn't "remember 1893 or 1895.)

As for the Dodge dealers, at least they aren't giving away fake gold coins like the did back in 1970. (Back in 1970 for a promotion of the "Gold Duster" all over the country Dodge dealers gave away tens of thousands of fake 20 dollar pioneer gold pieces. This was before the hobby protection act so they were not marked, and the coin they chose to copy was a very rare piece, I believe one or two genuine pieces known, that was pictured in the Redbook. Ever snce then these things have been comig out of "Great Great Grandads old trunk that has been in the family for over a hundred years". Ol Grandad usually has a lot of neat "rare" things in that trunk, like a $1000 bill from 1840 with the serial number 8894, and some of that Confederate currency on that old stiff parchment type "paper".)

image Yep. I have had a few of those walk in the door in the past year or so. One guy called me and told me that they were working on a construction site and they noticed something golden colored in the dirt as they were moving earth. He said that they found this rare gold coin and wanted to sell it to me. I told him on the phone that it was probably fake, since they were heavily replicated. We met and before it even hit my hand I said, "fake". He said, "how can you tell". It was very light and obviously cast. Really bad copy. Cheesie. The funny thing is that it did not look like it came out of the ground at all. He was just trying to scam me. I see a lot of copies come through the door. The most common fakes that we see are Continental Dollars and Spanish Colonial coins.

she doesn't remember the date and it hasn't been seen in YEARS. i kinda think i'd remember getting it! i can't even figure out how it would be my fault if it's lost...i never ever heard of it until last night. i figure that the best thing to do is, if she makes a stink, i'll say that i found it in a box that i had it in for special keeping and then show her a morgan and say that i put it in a 2x2 to keep it from getting banged up...all i have are common dates with a few obviously circulated. the whole thing makes me ill thinking about it

    thanks for letting me rant
