1962 unc set

I recently purchased a still in the envelope sealed 1962 uncirculated US coin set (as a birth year present for my wife, except it turns out her birth year is 1963. I lost some points on THAT brilliant idea). No big deal, nothing too exciting I know. The one question I have is about the 50 cent piece. Even though it was still in the envelope, and still in the sealed wrapper, there is a black spot on the back of the coin, almost like a water spot. Just one coin has this mark (the 50 cent piece). It is not on the wrapper as I moved the coin around a little to check.
The spot is about the size of a small pea on the upper left side of the back. Did they occasionally seal these sets with water in them? I can't figure out how that spot got there.
Thanks in advance!!!

OOPS.
Yes, the coins in these can sometimes come with mint produced spotting of various types.

There are numerous ways that a coin can develop spots. On the mint set coins spots are
likely caused by problems with contaminants on the die, planchet, or improper cleaning af-
ter strike. Storage conditions can greatly exascerbate spotting and will even cause it.

I might be posting some more. I have some "oddities" in a collection from my wifes grandfather that I want to explore. Apparently he was known as "mr coin" and had his own radio show talking about coins. Some of it has already been sold to finance my mother-in-laws college education, but there is one cardboard box of coins where I have no idea what is in it. It is going to be like christmas.
Just opening the top I see a dollar bill lying there with the word "hawaii" stamped across the top of it. Lots of little boxes of stuff. I am just goiing to have to dig through it.
Thanks again!!!
