I'm not a big fan of master sets, so that's not in the cards. My recent focus has been on upgrading my 1956, 1957, and 1972 sets, plus slowly completing my 1959 and 1973 sets. Graded 1973's have really dried up recently, although there remains a pretty good supply of 1959's. Most of my player sets are already complete except the Mays, and I'm in no hurry on that one, but I could use a PSA 9 1971 Bench (it's the only one that I lack a 9).
I also the current high bidder on the complete 1965 set on Ebay, but there is a lot of time yet to go before now and the end of the auction....
Steve...congrats...You have a beautiful high grade set! I am just a 1964 Topps and a 1963 Fleer away from completing this basic set myself in average ex-mt (6) condition. Although I am not primarily a baseball collector, (hockey and boxing only), Roberto Clemente was my favorite player when I was a kid. Stargell was my second and I'll probably start a basic set on him as well.
Can anyone tell me why the 1972 Pirates Team Card is in the Clemente Master Set, but the 1973 Pirates Team card is not ? I know I see Roberto Clemente on the O-pee-chee 73 card. Not sure if he is on the Topps version.

My guess is no one asked for it to be added as he technically wasn't one the 73 team as he died on Dec. 31, 1972, just a guess though
With the Master Sets -- it is only included if someone requests it.
There are many people [me included] who think it is stupid to include the Team Cards. Especially from the 1960s, when a Master Player set would presumably have the ability to include the OPC team card, the Topps team card and the VZ Topps team card.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
The master set is all screwed up by collectors requesting any card that says Pirates on it from 1955 thru 1973. PSA does not filter it out or even check them anymore. That is why I havent started my master set. I have about 30 non basic clementes but I won't even try and compete in that silly of a set.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set
I you guys need these make me an offer....postcard has small water stain front-1970 topps super proof is a pretty cool item and the 1964 stand up is probably a psa 6....its ex condition. Thanks scott

Current obsession, all things Topps 1969 - 1972

Re the '73 team card, my experience is that only the "playing years" are included in the master.
To me, the better question is why is the Topps 1972 "Bucs Champs" #221 part of the master set.
The card depicts Jackie Hernandez and Willie Stargell.
Always plenty of PSA-graded cards in my ebay store -- https://ebay.com/str/thelumbercompanysportscards
Thanks scott
