1796 cent Rev of what?

Who is an expert on large cents? What reverse is this and would PCGS slab this coin with the corrosion?
What you opinion of the grade?
Is there pvc on this coin and should it soak in acetone?

Sure make the obverse big and the reverse small.

My guess is it's the Reverse of 1797, but I can't see it well enough.

Count the leaves - 16 left and 19 right make it 1797

And no, PCGS would not slab it. ANACS will

    O.K. Relayer try this!
What about the acetone use on copper?

Yes, that looks like the Reverse of 1797 to me.

Acetone will remove any external junk from the coin, but won't do anything to help the corrosion.

It's a shame because the obverse on that coin is really nice.

It is an S-119. It is a type of 97 rev. I would say that PCGS will NOT certify it with that corrosion, neither will NGC. ANACS will but they will net grade it. Having said that I would still say that I like the coin and would not mind owning it. Even with the corrosion it is still nicer than mine. This is a "common" variety but difficult to find in lower grades. It is a hoard variety and the easiest 1796 to find in AU/Unc.
