Great idea; I have a dozen or so Ike Proof Dollars, although most have developed a strange haze.
Don't know if that'll preclude a high grade with NGC.

Mike, give that haze a little time and you may come to really like it. image

Yes. The VERY rare SS over S variety. First discovered on the SS Republic before it sank. Seems a deck hand was cleaning up in the Captians cabin and came across it. He innocently put it in his pocket but was caught later and keelhauled. The coin ended up at the bottom of the Ocean where it lay undiscovered for 100's of years. Just recently a Family member was frolicking along a southern California beach and noticed something shiny in the sand. He went over and picked it up, burning the crap out of his hand (it was a hot day). He still bears the Eagle and SS mark in his palm to this day. He heard i was into these old Silver dollars so he sent it to me. I've had it ever since. I decided to present it here, on the PCGS U.S. Coin Forum, for it's world debut.
It's quite a conversation piece. image
