Actually, it's a mule error. They used the obverse die from when cents had no mint mark and re-punched the date!

The only oddity here is that there are actually four bids on it. Those people could just hand their money away to charity, then at least it would be going to someone who understands the meaning of money.

I wonder if those bidders are all from the west coast. I'm from WA state and my Whitman album of pennies is almost complete except for every Philadelphia issue from 1992 to present! Maybe they just don't know any better since they never see any Philadelphia coins in circulation!
