Trying to give refund / why ebay makes you wait for your refund

So I sell ebay item 3915685751 which is a roll of unsearched quarters....
so far so good....
half way thru auction I get a email asking if they are readable dates....
I thought they were 1940 quarters (I was away from the office and was confused which auction-my fault I admit) so I mention to this person that I really dont know, but I guess they might be readable...they are unsearched other than quick taking some out to scan pic and sorry but I am away from office so cant tell....
so far so good....
get paypal paid, send item
so far so good....
get mean spirited email saying that the roll is a bunch of junk dateless Liberty 25c
so far not so good....
but hey that's ok, I stand behind my item and all the guy had to do was just ask and I would refund....
I still am sending him refund but here is what really bothers me....

I would like to get a refund from ebay for listing fees etc.... why do I have to wait 7 days to file a "non paying reminder" then wait and file a request for credit.....

ebay should have a way to get instant credit in situation where a seller is refunding money back to buyer.....

to me this just seems like a pain in the #$% anyway thanks for letting me vent....

if I am missing a easy way to get refund, somebody let me know....

I think it's worse that if you have a dutch/fixed price auction, you can only file one NPB... don't use it until you're sure everyone else has paid image

I think you can wait 7 days to file a "non paying reminder" and file a request for credit at the same time if you said you both agree to not go through with the transaction.

    Wait... then again...

I've had bids cancelled within a few hours of the auction's close...

Oh, well... ebay say seven days right here

I'm not sure, but I believe the waiting period rules don't apply on a mutually agreed sale cancellation.

Since a returned item has to make 2 trips through the postal system, 7 days is a reasonable time for that to happen.

  • Why should you be entitled to a refund in listing fees or file a NPB if the bidder payed and you chose to refund since the buyer didn't like the item?
